It's almost as if Darius has created a world of his own. Nikki was smart so she learnt the rules and played by them. Not necessarily presence but actually communicating with the Russians (I have no clue how it looks like).
But having someone like Nikki is like having Corpses in the house. If you plan strategically and if you're careful then the corpses may protect you from Strangers but there's no guarantee if they will NOT attack you. You may avoid them and they may be okay. But go near them too much, even a little bit of too much, they will not be able to differentiate you from strangers. To them, anyone that approaches them, must be killed. Stay clear of such people in your life. And also this corpse example is really present in the game Dragon Age: Inquisition as Ghilain Main Groove or some name like that. Learn to take advantage of their ignorance. Let them help you while they plot their own destruction (hence making your work even easier). Donald Trump is one of those people who know how to use your enemies to your advantage. When Donald was in Debt and had 9 Billion dollar negative Net Worth or in other words, on the brink of Bankrupcy, Donald used the media to his advantage and let the media spread news about his bankruptcy and all the deals he did with Casino. Later he published books and successfully launched himself through The Apprentice. He, once again, was able to turn his weaknesses into advantage. That is how media helped Trump become rich many times over. There's a reason he's positioned USA as the dominant force in the Space Missions. And he may be right. America is 9 trillion dollar poor but to this day, it continues to turn its weaknesses into its advantage. No Elon Musk, No America and No America, No SpaceX and Tesla. It pays to know thyself. In this case, more is better. And by that I mean work hard on your self in a way that you become more aware and well-rounded. That is meritocracy. It's about being conscious of oneself. Be Self-Conscious.
