King Leonidas is by far the bravest king and also my favourite. I'll explain later why. But first consider this: We label things as difficult or easy just by ALONE looking at them. We do not consider other factors. What is really true according to my striking observation is that something is difficult in proportion to how many people are trying to do it. That's it. Do what no one else is doing, the 180 degree turn, from whatever masses are listening to. In ancient Persian times, there was no such word as "Democracy". But the greeks, namely Athens under the command of Themistokles who was convinced that the only way to make them apart and then unite them as one nation( The Greeks) was to chase their asses around this relatively new idea known as Democracy. For example, it's a common practice to use words like Glutes and Running as a synonym towards exercise. This is where they all get it wrong. Because now everyone knows one popular idea, it becomes difficult. Tis the man who hands rather a dish or a luxurious branch of protein rich foods: fish, without any guidelines as to how to maintain and next time, how to acquire it for YOURSELF. They can't accept the idea that they can ever teach "trade secrets" in a small, or seemingly small business as fishing. Studies show that competition is good in a STABLE society. Automation applied to an inefficient takes increases inefficiency. Education and resources applied to an unstable society only make it even more unstable. Like the more fitness experts talk about their narrow trade, the more unstable their industry becomes. Competition and exit points increase. What no one dares to ask is that: was that the result of lack of competency or rather, given the level of competition among individuals and workers, a result of set of un-ordered and nebulous beliefs? This is the fundamental question every great industry or even religion asks. This is the first question you ask yourself when you accept Islam, that Was your past self really a result of incompetence or that your brain lacked ordered beliefs and habits/routines?. You come to think that knowledge defeats pre-conceptions. And as we move forward and set systems in place for gathering intelligent information, we learn that it was not our naked mind that was wrong, but what we've been told to believe since we were born. We know Information resolves uncertainty, or that's the idea. In times of difficulty, the question is not "Is it going to happen?" but rather "Who is going to make it happen?". Experience taught us that often, a trauma leads to a renewed self. As they call it Post-traumatic growth. It means there are no single chapters that lead to questions or answers to all different aspects of life. Your life may be stuck in a chapter, but it is after looking at the future, when you realize X person from history did this (or whatever) to overcome such difficult situation, then you are confident that a man's life consists of series of chapter. No one phase answers the questions related to the other. It is only after looking at the lives of those who'd made it, those who did this and that to become who they are now.In other words, it's a meditation practice. You place youd heart and soul into a time of history to absorb as much as you can. Then you arrange your knowledge. And next thing we know, you are King Leonidas in your own life. You exposed yourself to diverse experiences and you said to yourself, "If I had to think about imitating X person from history, by reading books and getting mental models from people of all ages from all the basic disciplines, how would I practice it so much that it becomes as easy as meditation? or in other words, If I had to meditate by reading books about person X from history and if I had to re-create those events in my personal life, how would I do it?". That's the question to ask. Leonidas had a beautiful wife (well, I'm judging from movie, of course I have no idea of how she looked like in real life) I would say she lived a life synonomous to the life of King himself, but only with more diverse and multidisciplinary experiences.
